Nobody has ever seen this shot until now. The image was taken in about 1962 at London's Waterloo Station. It shows the last migrant workers from the Caribbean to arrive at Southampton Docks without needing a work permit for the UK. The boat that brought them here was called the 'Empire Windrush'. Taking these shots that day was an extraordinary experience. I didn't know what to expect and neither did the men in the shot. I used a Leica 35 mm camera with Kodak Tri-X film pushed 2 stops then printed on Grade 4 Kodak Bromesko paper.
